Polk County Cemetery Preservation Committee recently met at the Cedartown library. President Greg Gray introduced Mr. and Mr. Gordon L. Hamrick, Jr and their daughter Ms. Christine Nelson from Avondale Estates, GA. They presented a donation to Polk Cemetery Preservation Committee from the Trust Fund created by the late Ms. Shirley Hamrick. The trust was created to maintain the gravesites of Ms. Shirley and other family members buried at Valley Grove Primitive Baptist Church Cemetery. Shown are Mrs. Kay Hamrick and Mr. Gordon L. Hamrick, Jr. Back row: Pearl Gibson, Susan Burkart, Eddie Neal, Christine Nelson, Kawna McCrickard, Greg Gray, Inge Oakley and Jane Thompson. Committee members are volunteers that seek to identify and tend neglected cemeteries in Polk County. For more information, call Gray at 770-748-5657.
