Evening Star Cemetery

Surveyed by Freddie Thompson Feb. 18, 2005. Verified by Demetrius Byers Aug. 12, 2005. Volunteers with PCCPC.

Directions: From Cedartown, take Hwy 27 south to the By-pass. Turn left onto the By-pass and go about miles to East Point Road. Turn left onto East Point Road. Look toward the left and cemetery will be on the left.

Evening Star Cemetery was started in the 1960s as a Perpetual Care Cemetery for the Black Residents of Polk County and the surrounding area. Plots were sold, but after a while the cemetery was abandon. The PCCPC took on the project of cleaning up the cemetery and has made a great improvement. There is still much work to be done. Hopefully, family members will create an Association and maintain this cemetery.
